Essential Oils and Pregnancy

Essential oils and pregnancy form a wonderful relationship. Most essential oils can be used safely throughout pregnancy, labor and beyond. Do not forget that essential oils have been around for a very long time and have an impeccable track record.

Do not fear, they are much safer than pharmaceutical drugs, and you can easily make your own aromatherapy products.

However, you should not forget that they do have powerful medicinal effects. Therefore, there are some oils which are better used with caution while you are pregnant and some that maybe should be avoided altogether. Although, it seems the quality if your oils is more of a concern than the actual oil.

We will mention some Young Living essential oil blends.

We switched to these therapeutic grade essential oils a few years ago after a therapist and a DO said they used nothing else. We have been very impressed with their quality and we would never use any other oil neat – without a carrier oil – or orally.

If the thought of using oils neat or orally is scary to you please refer to ‘aromatherapy schools,‘ which may help shed some light on this issue.

I use YL and I am wondering why these are avoided? Like what can happen to the baby any of these oils are used? I am not finding much anywhere.

Honestly we don’t know I went with the recommendations from the Essential Oil Desk Reference. Some are said to maybe induce labor (i.e. Dragon Time) or at least to use with caution. HOWEVER all that being said I did use some of the oils listed here such as Thieves.
